Jira allows you to create your own custom fields to use within any of your Jira projects. Time to SLA gives you pre-built custom fields that you can use to track your SLAs. Time to SLA creates some of these custom fields upon installation (i.e. SLA Panel, Time to SLA, Overdue custom fields), but you need to create others (i.e. SLA Indicator, SLA Overview, SLA Dates).

Follow the steps on this page to configure Time to SLA custom fields.


On this page, you will learn how to:

  • Add a custom field.
  • Add SLAs to a custom field.
  • Add a custom field on screens.

Step 1: Go to SLA fields

  1. Log into your Jira account.
  2. Click on Time to SLA in the header menu to see the TTS menu.
  3. Go to SLA Fields.



Step 2: Add a custom field

  1. Click Add Custom Field to see all TTS Custom Fields.
  2. Select a custom field that you want to add.

    If you are NOT adding SLA Dates custom field:
    1. The new Custom field screen will pop-up.
    2. Create a Name.
    3. Click Save.

    If you are adding SLA Dates Custom Field:
    1. The new Custom field screen will pop-up.
    2. Create a Name.
    3. Select SLA Date.
      1. Select First if you want to see the earliest date of SLAs for the chosen date.
      2. Select Last if you want to see the farthest date of SLAs for the chosen date.
    4. Select SLA Order.
  3. Click Save.

The new custom field will now appear in the list.


Step 3: Define SLAs of a custom field

  1. Go to SLA fields.
  2. Click  in the row of a custom field in order to add SLAs.
  3. Go to Configure.



  4. The Jira custom field screen will appear.
  5. Click Edit including SLAs.



  6. Tick the SLAs that you want to define for the custom field.
  7. Click Save.




Select screens to display a custom field

  1. Go to SLA fields.
  2. Click  in the row of a custom field that you would like to display on screens.
  3. Click Screens. 



  4. The Jira Screens screen will appear.
  5. Tick the screens that you want to display the custom field on.
  6. Click Update.
