Creating asset custom fields

You can add multiple custom fields to JIRA Service Desk customer portal and JIRA issue create/view/edit screens. Each custom field may contain different form assets.

To create a custom field in JIRA please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Issues.
  2. Select Custom fields from the menu in the Fields section.
  3. Click Add custom field.
  4. Click All in the left panel at Select Field Type popup.
  5. Select AIP Assets And Inventory Plugin Custom Field
  6. Click Next.
  7. Configure the selection criteria for the field.

  8. Enter Name for this custom field. For example:  Server Assets.

  9. Enter a Description if you want to show it under the custom field in Create/Edit/View screens.
  10. Click Create.

  11. Select the checkboxes of the screens on which this custom field will be displayed.

  12. Click Update.

 

Configuring Custom field Content

New custom field is ready to use. By default it display all the assets of the system. You can limit the forms in Assets configuration page:

  1. Go to Assets and Inventory > Configuration > Custom Fields Configuration
  2. Click configure link.
  3. Select the forms of the custom field and click Add.
  4. Click Save
    Now custom field will only display the assets of the selected forms. You can test it at Issue screens.
